1971 Dodge Challenger R/T Original N96 Shaker Hood
1971 Dodge Challenger R/T 340 Automatic Shaker Hood
This is a spectacular example of a very rare car. Only 224 factory equipped Shaker Hood (code N96) 1971 Challengers were built, and only 39 of them were 340 R/T's, this is one of them.
A West car its entire life, this original sheet metal car was a rock solid candidate for the ground up restoration it received. Nothing was overlooked in the restoration, every part either being restored or replaced bumper to bumper, top to bottom. The fresh paint is beautiful with no chips, scratches, or touch ups. Very low miles since the restoration was completed, Its only been driven occasionally to local shows and has no obvious wear anywhere. It's as nice (if not better) than it was in 1971. This is not your typical ebay auction junk, this is a serious investment quality car at a GREAT price!
This car has the following factory original Numbers:
*Original Dash VIN tag
*Original Fender Tag
*Original Radiator Core Support Stamping
*Original Cowl Stamping
*Original Numbers Matching Transmission
*NOM 1971 340 Engine
It did not come with a broadcast sheet, the original engine was replaced with another 71 340. The new 340 received internal upgrades including a 416 stroker kit which gives the stock appearing engine the punch of a (healthy) 440 when you get on it (see dyno sheet attached). The engine was built to run on regular pump gas, starts on the first twist of the key, and idles smoothly with a nice mellow rumble, its totally tame until you get on it.

The special Elastomeric front & rear bumpers are factory originals and were on the car when it was found, when the car was restored three layers of paint were discovered, the original purple, white, then another layer of purple. The entire car including the bumpers had this paint history, so while the rubber bumpers were not an option code you'd find on the fender tag (broadcast sheet only in 71), it is most likely that they are original to the car.
The rear Go-Wing, (which is the correct style for an early production 1971 car) was added. Power steering was added for added ease of drive-ability (all correct factory parts were used).
