While it was based on the second generation Pajero, this model boasted numerous distinctive features. A total of approximately 2,693 units were produced to meet the homologation requirements for the Dakar Rally's production-based T2 class.
Underneath its rugged exterior, this version of the Pajero Evolution was equipped with a powerful 3.5-litre 24-valve DOHC V6 6G74 engine,
featuring MIVEC technology and a dual plenum variable intake system. This remarkable powertrain claimed an output of 275 bhp at 6,500 rpm[2][4][5]. The two-door body design was enhanced with prominent fender flares, two fin-like rear spoilers, a functional hood scoop, and several other styling elements inspired by racing aesthetics.
