well-loved vehicle that spent many summers in South Africa traveling across the country with a family for road trip safari adventures. It is unmolested. Some minor modifications done by original owner: 1. Addition of a transmission lock system: with gear shift in correct location it can be locked with an anti-theft deadbolt, rendering gearbox inaccessbible2. Addition of a "black box" engine monitor system which provides alerts for basic engine alarms (these vehicles had very little in terms of ECU monitoring of critical engine sensors, this is an aftermarket improvement). It has been given some minor cosmetic improvements: 1. The notorious footwell rust issue prone to most Defenders of this age was addressed with new plate welded and painted in both footwells)2. 4 x new tires have been fitted (Mastercraft Courser AXT2 LT 235/85/R16 on the original steel wheels)3. It has been given a good detail.This listing shows the true condition - this vehicle is not perfect, it is not a trailer queen and it is ideally suited for someone looking for a mechanically sound, decent condition example which they can make their own and build into their dream Defender. The paint is not original, it has been repainted in off-white/light ivory at some point, we estimate 10 years. The pain is cracked in a few places.. The driver door card has a cosmetic damage on the locking mechanism. The headliner is in great condition and the original cloth seats are in good condition.The engine runs smoothly and shows zero smoke under normal idle and steady high revs. Steering and transmission are both smooth and predictable.
